Studies
Square i Gallery is proud to present a very special selection of 13 works by Susan Hertel. These pieces are primarily watercolor and gouache studies originally created as proposals for commissions—primarily for churches and Home Savings and Loan branches. Many of these studies were later realized as stained glass or mosaic installations on buildings, while others served as preparatory works for larger paintings.
Uniquely, a number of these studies were painted on corrugated board, a surface Susan Hertel was drawn to for its texture and warm color. This detail adds a remarkable intimacy and authenticity to the collection.
These exquisite works are being offered as open edition prints, which allows us to offer them at a more accessible price point compared to limited edition pieces. They are printed on 350 lb cold press, acid-free watercolor paper, ensuring the highest quality and longevity.
